My students and I curated a show that features local Shenzhen international artists through ISZAF and ISNS. I also have new work in this show.
ISZAF and ISNS would like to present “PATTERN”, an art exhibition that challenged local and international artists to create artwork inspired by patterns. Featuring 17 works of art, the artists approached and explored the topic of patterns in creative, subtle, and dynamic ways: often representing and blending the broad spectrum between the literal and the abstract.
Various works focused on the literal patterns the art discipline naturally instructs: the repetition of shapes, lines, and colors. While other artists focused more on the figurative and abstract nuances patterns can uphold such as repetition in human behavior, lifestyles, and society. In addition, the works included in the show utilized various color schemes from monochromatic to polychromic

October 19, 2019 - November 15, 2019 - I’m showing recent work in “A Fluid Space” @ Great Art Space
A Fluid Space contemporary show is a culmination of work from five foreign artists living and working in the Greater Bay Area of Southern China. Whether Hong Kong, Dongguan, or Shenzhen, the artists over the last three years have maintained growing friendships out of the very place in which they work. Though the artists come from all around the world (Canada, Poland, Portugal and the United States), the present time has led them to this point, this place, and knowing each other. It is the interrelationship between starting new in a new land, engaging new people and culture, and more importantly, creating their own culture this show is positioned within. It is here in this fluid, temporary, and yet concrete space of time and conceptuality that the artists present their work in an open dialogue.

Summer 2019 - I am featured in Urban Family Magazine about my work as an Artist & Art Educator
“Ultimately, as a teacher, supporting my students and helping them to achieve their full artistic potential is my primary goal and focus. I help the student achieve their potential in way that fits each student individually. I am available as a mentor o my student and facilitator of learning and help guide them through their projects. I help to encourage them not only as an educator, but through my real-life experience as a working artist. Through this, I provide them with the necessary tools to unleash an exploration of ideas and thoughts behind their work. This is a collaborative experience between myself and my students and is essential for them to achieve their goals as artists.” - Gloria Carnevale

Show Description:
ISZAF is proud to present “Utterance,” an exhibition featuring 14 international artists that have focused their work on the idea of language, a perception or a reality. ISZAF Utterance began with a challenge, where artists were tasked to create artworks inspired by the quote “Language is the most massive and inclusive art we know, a mountainous and anonymous work of unconscious generations” by Edward Sapir. This quote alludes to the relationship between imagery and language and how they work together both implicitly and explicitly to form a communicative engagement for the audience. All works were required to combine an audible component to fuse this play between imagery and language together. The artworks that best represented the main concepts of the show have been selected to create an engaging experience for you to connect with and enjoy.

October 19, 2018 - November 16, 2018 - I’m showing my work in the ISZAF “Transient in Motion” Exhibition @ ISNS Exhibition Space
ISZAF Transient in Motion began with a challenge, where artists were tasked to create artworks inspired by the quote “All change is not growth, as all growth is not movement” by Ellen Glasgow. This quote alludes to the idea of movement and shadow, through both emotion and motion. We curated this show by examining each art piece’s use of value, variety and vividness. The artworks of 11 artists whose artworks best represented the main concepts of the show have been selected to create an engaging experience for you to connect with and enjoy.

April 23 - May 12, 2018 - Showing my artwork @ Call + Response Exhibition @ Jardin Orange
This exhibition is made up of a series of small impressions. Each piece of art was sparked by another and born within the discourse of the ISZAF Call & Response challenge. The Challenge involved 30 artists, who together produced 250 artworks, over the course of 2 months, through a series of 3 phases. Each phase was like a ‘game of telephone’; the eggshells whispered to each artist and produced a chain effect. The eggshells provoked the phase 1 artwork, which then inspired the phase 2 artwork, which in turn elicited the phase 3 artwork. The interpretations and misinterpretations of the work produced at each phase were intriguing. The process was powerful because the artists were engaged in the discourse. Community is important. The selected works within this exhibition are vignettes of our visual conversation.
April 13 - May 6, 2018 - Showing my artwork @ Concurrence: A Photography Show, @ OCT Loft, Shenzhen
“Concurrence” is a photography exhibition organized by ISZAF and curated by Catarina Braga.
With the work of 15 international and local photographers of Shenzhen, the exhibition is conceived as a performative space to see Shenzhen through 32 photographs and everything in-between them.
Facing the impossibility of portraying a city, by the time we make this exhibition, the landscape has already changed.
The photographs can be thought as an extension of the relationship we have with Shenzhen, and therefore, the exhibition becomes itself that extension. It’s a moment to pause and slow down against the speed of this city, a moment of recollection and dialogue — where each photographer has brought these different moments, details, street scenes, cityscapes,… and we can think about the city as an infinity of possibilities.
Each spectator is invited to walk and look through the exhibition, much like each photographer has photographed and walked through the streets of Shenzhen.

January 12-22, 2018 - Organization and Curation of the Kuku Chai International Youth Art Exhibition 2018
I planned, organized and curated this exhibition along side Brittan Aebischer through ISZAF. Please read below for details. Media links are below as well.
Featuring 6 prominent international schools within the city of Shenzhen, the Kuku Chai International Youth Art Exhibition is a group show featuring foreign and international students of all ages 7-18. In collaboration with one of Southern China’s most infamous female visual artists, kuku Chai, students were asked to respond to her work focusing on Kuku Chai’s themes of traditional and contemporary Chinese landscapes, animals, birds, and buildings, while using any medium of their choice. Ten students from each school, of all ages, were selected by their respective art teachers to be represented in this show. It is through the call and response between Kuku Chai and the students, including the reinterpretation of KuKu Chai’s visual themes by the students that makes this exhibition unique and iconic; especially with this exhibition being held in the multi-national and dynamic city of Shenzhen. We invite you to view this amazing work and the poignant visual dialogue between the students and KuKu Chai.

Carnevale said to excel at teaching art is to help students with any project that allows them to express themselves, letting students find out their preferred artistic discipline.
“Just because you can’t draw well doesn’t mean you can’t be a good artist,” she said. “You might excel at graphic arts on a computer, abstract art, print-making, or sculpture. Any kind of project that can encourage students to find out which art medium suits them is the best because it helps them gain confidence to pursue it.”
